What we repair

Capacitors and contactors

The single most common failure during Muncie June-July heat. Symptoms: AC tries to start but fan only spins, unit hums then trips breaker, intermittent cooling. Diagnosis takes 10 minutes with a multimeter. Replacement is straightforward on most central AC units. Quote includes the capacitor microfarad rating to match your unit.

Refrigerant leaks

Indications: ice forming on the line set or evaporator coil, weak cool airflow, AC runs constantly but house never gets cold. Repair requires leak detection, seal or coil replacement, and recharge to manufacturer spec. R-410A systems can be recharged; R-22 systems can be recharged but expect to pay more for refrigerant.

Compressor failure

The most expensive single-component failure. Symptoms: AC will not start at all, breaker trips immediately, loud humming or grinding. Compressor replacement on a system over 10 years old often does not pencil out against a new installation. We will quote both and let you decide.

Frozen evaporator coil

Caused by low refrigerant, dirty air filter, or blower motor problems. We thaw the coil, diagnose the root cause, and fix it. Simply thawing without finding the cause means the freeze-up will recur within days.

Blower motor failure

Symptoms: AC compressor runs outside but no air at the vents, weak airflow, or no airflow at all. Variable-speed ECM motors common on modern systems are pricier than the old PSC motors, but last longer.

Thermostat issues

Sometimes the AC is not broken. The thermostat is. We diagnose and replace, including smart thermostats Ecobee, Nest, Honeywell with proper C-wire installation.

Drain line clogs

A clogged condensate drain can shut down the AC via the float switch, or worse, dump water into your living space. Common in humid Muncie summers. Drain line clearing and a float switch test are routine.

Ductwork problems

Disconnected duct runs in crawl spaces, restrictive returns, and improperly sized supply lines cause complaints. We inspect with smoke pencils and static pressure gauges, not guesswork.
